Thoughts for today...
How did it get to be April? Last time I posted it was February! Well, anyway, this whole Pope thing is just a little, --well perhaps a lot-- over the top. Enough is enough. You'd think there were only Catholics in the world... Not only are there not only Catholics in the world, there are non-Christians, heathens even, the non-religious. Yes, OK, it's sad that the man died, but people die every single day, don't they? Yes, he was the Pope, but there are plenty of good, loving, wonderful, people who die every day. We don't even hear about most of them. OK. so there will be a funeral. I'd understand talking about that, televising it... but now it's been over 24 hours and the talk promises to go on for days, maybe weeks. This man was not all good. He didn't see women as equals. He thought that birth control was unnatural and bad. Well, that's a wonderful thing, isn't it? Let's just overpopulate the world. Let's just bring lots of unwanted babies into the world. Let's have children that can't be provided for, or loved. That is a good thing. Right? Well, I'm sorry, it is NOT a good thing... Babies and children deserve to be loved and well provided for.
Now there are pharmacies that are refusing to fill prescriptions for birth control pills. Well, perhaps it's better to have abortions, --unsafe ones. And frankly most of us know that it's completely unrealistic to think that people will practice abstinence. Take their birth control methods away, don't teach them how to use condoms, tell them to abstain. Make abortions illegal. All of this will certainly result in more unwanted babies who can't be provided for, more illegal abortions, more deaths of women, and on and on... but this was a "good" man, this Pope. A "great man!" It all makes me angry and very sad...
